Synopsis
In 1942, a ship loaded with more than 1,800 British prisoners of war The Japanese cargo ship “Lisbon Maru” was sunk by a U.S. submarine torpedo attack in the waters near the Zhoushan Archipelago. Nearby Dongji fishermen risked their lives to rescue over 300 British soldiers and protected and rescued three British individuals during a large-scale search by Japanese forces. This event is known as the “Lisbon Maru Sinking Incident.”
